MSU-Maguindanao Joins the Ceremonial Launching and Signing of the Master Development Plan for Camp Abubakar
#MSUMagAt50 | Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Secretary Carlito G. Galves Jr. led the Ceremonial Launching and Signing of the Master Development Plan for Camp Abubakar at 1st Marine Brigade Headquarters at Barangay Tugaig, Barira, Maguindanao Del Norte on January 23, 2024. The event underscores a shared commitment in creating secure and resilient housing communities in the BARMM region.
The Master Development Plan for Camp Abubakar serves as a detailed roadmap for its transformation into a peaceful, prosperous, and resilient community. Anchored to the JTFCT’s 2021 Camps Transformation Plan, it represents a step towards realizing the shared aspiration of the GPH and MILF to shift the camp’s narrative from conflict and militarization to peace and development. Henceforth, the plan envisions Camp Abubakar as a model for sustainable development, aiming to inspire similar advancements in other communities within and outside the Bangsamoro region.
Chancellor Bai Hejira M. Limbona represented by VCRE Dr. Raquel D. Arenas, was accompanied by Dr. Badrudin Abdul, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Datuali P. Abdula, Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Governance. Their involvement underlines the collaborative effort between academia and the government, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to address the community’s developmental needs.
In addition, MSU-Maguindanao is actively engaged in ongoing projects funded by UNDP and OPAPRU in Brgy. Tugaig, Barira, Maguindanao Del Norte. These projects aim to promote climate-smart agricultural technology and food security in the community.
