#MSUMag | Mindanao State University- Maguindanao extends warm welcome to Prof. Grant Warren D. Lu of the College of Public Affairs and Governance, who paid a courtesy visit to Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona on March 29, 2023, after completing his Academic Fellowship on Civic Engagement at the Watts College of Public Affairs and Community Solutions in Arizona State University, Arizona, United States of America, under the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative program of the U.S. Department of State.

Prof. Lu, along with twenty (20) young leaders, participated in a series of lectures on civic frameworks and leadership development, engaged in local community service activities, and went on study tours. The program, which commenced virtually in March 2022 and concluded in March 2023 at Arizona State University, aimed to strengthen leadership capacities, foster deeper engagement with other young leaders on key regional and global challenges, and enhance people-to-people ties between the United States and young SEA leaders.

During the courtesy visit, Chancellor Limbona and Prof. Grant Lu engaged in productive discussions about the implementation of programs that will encourage and facilitate the participation of MSU-Maguindanao’s students, young faculty members, and staff in international programs, such as the YSEALI Academic Fellowship. The focus of their dialogue was to identify opportunities and strategies to enhance MSU-Maguindanao’s engagement with the global community and support the development of its students and faculty members as globally competitive leaders.
