MSUMag and LGU Matanog sign a MOA

MSUMag | On April 13, 2023, a Memorandum of Agreement was formally signed between Mindanao State University-Maguindanao, headed by Dr. Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona and LGU Matanog, represented by its Local Chief Executive Hon. Zohria S. Bansil-Guro, at the Municipality of Matanog.

Chancellor Limbona expressed her appreciation to the LGU officials for their support in allowing MSU-Maguindanao to extend initiatives to the community. Further, she emphasized the crucial role of the academe in the socio-economic development of any community. She cited some of the initiatives of MSU-Maguindanao, such as the establishment of a climate-smart farm in South Upi and a Mangrove Crab Hatchery in Parang. These engagements in various parts of the region serve as avenues for capacity building, technology transfer, research and development (R&D), and linkages that would stimulate economic activity while ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

Mayor Guro expressed gratitude to MSU-Maguindanao for choosing their locality as one of the adopted communities. She highlighted that LGU-Matanog, which was once plagued by conflict, is now thriving and on the path to becoming a center of development and a model for the BARMM region. The partnership with MSU-Maguindanao is seen as a clear manifestation of the area’s progress and improvement.

Present during the ceremonial signing were the ABC President Mr. Jamil W. Langalac, Vice Mayor Sanaira Ibay-Imam, LGU-Matanog officials, Research Director Dr. Raquel Santiago-Arenas, CFES Dean Dr. Rowena Benavides, CPAG Dean Dr. Datu Ali P. Abdula, COF Dean Prof. Jonald Bornales, COA Dean Engr. Jeanneflor Atong, CAS Representative Prof. Usman Malim, and staff.

This MOA is through the initiative of Ms. Genuine Uko-Malim, JD, the Project Focal Person and Director of Human Resource Management Office. The activity was concluded with a closing remark by the Hon. Vice Mayor Sanaira I. Imam-Ali.
