MSU-Maguindanao DRRMO Conducts Emergency Preparedness Workshop
#MSUMagAt50 | The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of MSU-Maguindanao, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection in Maguindanao Del Norte led by their Fire Marshall FINSP Benga F. Bansil Jr., Division of Student Affairs, Infirmary Office, and National Service Training Program (NSTP), organized a 2-day seminar-workshop on Fire Safety, Basic Search and Rescue Techniques, and Basic Life Support on April 19-20, 2024.
This activity aimed to empower participants about the importance of fire prevention and safety measures. It also aimed to equip them with basic search and rescue techniques to effectively respond to emergencies. In addition, the activity provided participants with the knowledge and skills to administer basic life support in medical emergencies. Furthermore, it trained participants to become members of the university Quick Response Team, enhancing the university’s emergency response capabilities.
The first day featured a series of lectures by the BFP Officers on Fire Safety and Basic Search and Rescue Techniques, followed by an afternoon lecture about basic life support by the University Physician, Dr. Firkhan Estrella. The second day was the most engaging, where participants were able to apply what they had learned from the first day. A fire drill was conducted, allowing participants to practice using fire extinguishers and the fire hose.
Present were the BFP Officers, DRRMO Coordinator, Ms. Kristine Rendon, University Physician Dr. Firkhan Estrella, DSA Directress Julmaherria Salipada, NSTP Coordinator Regina P. Canja, ROTC Officers, SSC Officers led by Norjannah Campiao and the participants.
