Groundbreaking Ceremony of Marayag Eco-tourism Development Project in Matanog, Maguindanao Del Sur

Datucan, HRMO Director Genuine Uko-Malim, Dr. Rowena Benavides, Dean of the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Dr. Datu Ali P. Abdula, Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Governance, and Prof. Usman B. Malim from the College of Arts and Sciences, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Marayag Eco-tourism Development Project on March 21, 2023 in Matanog, Maguindanao Del Sur.
The Marayag Eco-Tourism and Development Project aims to provide opportunities and jobs for the town’s constituents, opening doors to new possibilities and uplifting the standard of living in the area.
It was a collaborative effort among 549th Engineer Battalion, 54th Engineering Brigade, Philippine Army headed by LTC Donald C. Hugo, CE (GSC) PA, various individuals, and organizations including MSU-Maguindanao and the Matanog Police Station. It is also a vital step towards transforming the town of Matanog into an eco-tourism hub in Maguindanao Del Sur.
The parties signed an Inter-Local Agency Partnership (ILAP) agreement to further strengthen the relationship between the local government and development parties, ensuring the success of the project and the future developments to come.
The town’s mayor, Zohria Bansil Guro, envisions Matanog as the gateway to the newly formed province of Maguindanao del Norte, with the potential to transform it an eco-tourism hub in the province, providing opportunities and jobs for its constituents. The project received support from various development parties in the Matanog Local Government.
Present during the ceremonial signing were 1LT Hock Guan de Leon (CE) PA, 1LT Nelbert P. Dable (CE) PA, and the Matanog Police Station Officers.
