Mindanao State University–Maguindanao achieved a breakthrough in its infrastructure development on April 13, 2026, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the ₱44-million Institute of Management (IM) academic building. Funded under the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the three-story facility is designed to meet the Institute of Management’s growing needs. This project represents a significant expansion of the University’s capacity to provide inclusive, high-quality, and responsive professional education for the Bangsamoro region.
Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona reiterated that these academic buildings, both the CPAG and IM facilities, are a direct result of the vision provided by former DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman. She emphasized that it was through former Sec. Pangandaman’s advocacy that the University realized this massive infrastructure development. Chancellor Bai Hejira further noted that having a leader who truly speaks the language of Mindanao ensures that essential services are not only made available but are delivered to the communities the University serves.
MP Tomanda Antok, a member of the MSU System Board of Regents representing the MBHTE-BARMM, expressed the regional government’s commitment to the institution and indicated that additional support for student dormitories and medical assistance is in progress. He expressed his appreciation to MSU-Maguindanao for their ongoing efforts to provide accessible, inclusive, and high-quality education by developing facilities that promote a more effective learning environment.
IM Director Saima S. Maulana added that the facility responds to the surge in graduate and doctorate programs and specialized skills training tailored for the Bangsamoro workforce. Director Saima S. Maula of the Institute of Management shared that the new facility is a vital response to the surge in graduate programs and legal research. The academic building features six modern classrooms that can be combined to form a large function hall for seminars and training. To ensure a truly inclusive environment, the building will be equipped with a solo elevator providing easy access to the Faculty Room and Student Lounge on the upper floors, along with specialized restroom facilities for men, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). By providing a dedicated home for our graduate scholars, this facility reinforces MSU-Maguindanao’s commitment to the dreams and progress of the communities we serve.
