MSUMag Infirmary Leads MPOX Prevention and Awareness Program

MSU-Maguindanao Infirmary personnel conducted an MPOX Prevention and Awareness Program on May 30, 2025, at the Training Center Hall B, aimed at informing and equipping the university community with essential knowledge on Mpox—its modes of transmission, symptoms, preventive measures, and available treatments.

A total of 50 participants—comprising twenty-five (25) employees and 25 students—participated in the seminar and open forum. Educational materials were distributed to reinforce key takeaways, and they were encouraged to advocate for health-promoting behaviors.

Subsequently, Dr. Firkhan A. Estrella, Chief of Hospital of the MSU-Maguindanao Infirmary, provided a comprehensive overview of the global and local status of Mpox. His lecture emphasized the importance of early detection, effective prevention strategies, and community-based responses to minimize the risk of outbreaks.

Through this effort, the university strengthens its commitment to health literacy and enhances public health preparedness.
