MSUMag and OPAPRU CoE Forge Strategic Partnership to Strengthen WPS Initiatives
A Memorandum of Understanding on enhancing research, education, and capacity-building on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), between Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), through its Center of Excellence under Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., and Mindanao State University – Maguindanao, headed by Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona, was forged on March 27, 2025, in Pasig City.

Key areas of the partnership include:
*Joint Research and Advocacy: Advancing research on WPS issues, including conflict-sensitive peace promotion and gender-inclusive conflict resolution.
*Educational Modules and Courses: Developing specialized courses to strengthen WPS knowledge and capacity across sectors.
*Knowledge Sharing on DWPS: Sharing insights from the DWPS program with other SUCs to integrate WPS into higher education.
*Capacity-Building in GAD and WPS: Offering training, policy dialogues, and forums to promote gender-responsive and conflict-sensitive approaches.
This partnership follows the MSU-Maguindanao team’s Learning Visits from February 17-25, 2025, which focused on deepening the understanding and application of WPS principles. The partnership between MSU-Maguindanao and OPAPRU underscores the importance of embedding WPS not only in peace policies but also within academic discourse and community-level implementation.
Joining the signing were Susana Guadalupe H. Marcaida, Executive Director (ED) of the WPS Center of Excellence and ED of the Peace Sustainability Cluster; Dr. Ebra M. Moxsir, Vice President of the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy; Dr. Selva Ramachandran, Resident Representative of UNDP-Philippines; Nazra Abdi, Second Secretary for Political Affairs at the British Embassy in Manila; and the MSU-Maguindanao team.
