In a commendable display of community spirit and environmental stewardship, the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) students at MSU-Maguindanao actively engaged in a biannual Clean-Up Drive activity this semester. Spearheaded by the NSTP Coordinator, Prof. Regina P. Canja, and with enthusiastic participation from the ROTC students, this initiative has become a hallmark event on the university’s calendar.

Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, including the 6th Field Artillery Battalion, PA, led by LTC ERWIN B ALBESA ART (GSC) PA, and Alpha (APACHE) Company, 6IB, 6ID, under the guidance of 1LT ROLAND JACKSON C ANDRES (INF) PA, the ROTC students demonstrated their commitment to civic duty and environmental responsibility.
Joining forces with the Civil Military Operation Officer from 6FAB, 1LT ROWEL C VENTURA (ART) PA, from 16RCDG (P) BARMM RCPA, TSG RONALD P PLAZOS (INF) PA/ROTC Chief Clerk and other military personnel as well as representatives from the MSU-Maguindanao Security and Investigation Office, including MR. IVAN P. MANDI, the students embarked on a mission to uphold the university’s values of patriotism, moral integrity, and respect for the environment.
As Dr. Robert Bullard, a pioneer in the environmental justice movement, famously remarked, “Everyone deserves a clean, healthy, sustainable, and livable environment.” This sentiment resonates deeply with the ethos of the MSU-Maguindanao community, where the spirit of ‘Makakalikasan’ drives efforts to preserve the natural beauty of our surroundings.
The Clean-Up Drive not only serves as a practical means of maintaining campus cleanliness but also reinforces the importance of social responsibility and collective action in addressing environmental challenges. By instilling in students the value of caring for their environment, the ROTC program fosters a culture of sustainability and citizenship that will endure for generations to come.
As we embark on a new semester, let us continue to champion environmental cleanliness and embody the principles of good citizenship. Together, we can create a campus environment that reflects our shared commitment to a brighter, greener future.
