#MSUMag | The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Datu Abdulkarim Mama Ambolodto Hall Digital Language Laboratory was graced by MSU-Maguindanao Chancellor Dr. Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona and MP Atty. Suharto M. Ambolodto on September 12, 2023 in the facade of the Digital Language Laboratory, MSU-Maguindanao.

The Digital Language Laboratory aims to focus on preparing graduates to be proficient in their native and second languages, fostering self-confidence, and enhancing their written and oral communication skills in their respective fields. Specifically, it serves as a versatile platform for improving students’ English-speaking abilities, allowing them to learn at their own pace while honing presentation skills, mastering stress patterns, phonetics, and grammar. This innovative facility, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced features, seeks to redefine the learning experience. Within this environment, students engage in digitally mediated, learner-centric, and interactive activities that enhance their language immersion by enabling them to listen, speak, self-evaluate, and compare their performance to model speakers.

Chancellor Limbona highlighted the significance of the Digital Language Laboratory, emphasizing its role in addressing the speech divide among Senior High Schools from various places including Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and neighboring provinces, whose students enroll at MSU-Maguindanao. She conveyed her gratitude for the generous support of the honorable MP, recognizing that this intervention program will greatly benefit MSU-Maguindanao students. Chancellor Limbona also extended her appreciation for the current project and conveyed the university’s anticipation of future collaborations. She also extended her gratitude to Minister Esguera, acknowledging the potential for more projects in the pipeline. She concluded by underlining the university’s gratitude for the assistance and opportunities that MSU-Maguindanao has received.

MP Atty. Suharto Ambolodto expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to MSU-Maguindanao. He contemplated the best ways to assist the university, acknowledging the potential for various projects and collaboration with partners. His attention was drawn to the issue of the language divide within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and the necessity of enhancing competitiveness. MP Ambolodto emphasized the critical role of both current and future cohorts of students in shaping the leadership and bureaucracy of the BARMM region, thereby leaving a legacy. He stressed the importance of the education system in shaping the history of the Bangsamoro people and pledged to continue supporting the cause. He hoped that with communication we will promote understanding, and with understanding we hope it will reduce conflict and promote solidarity.

In February 2021, two months after Dr. Bai Hejira M. Limbona was elected as Chancellor of MSU-Maguindanao, she presented the university’s strategic development initiatives to the Members of the Parliament (MPs) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. One of the key initiatives introduced was the Digital Language Laboratory, with MP Atty. Suharto Ambolodto giving his full support for the project at that time. The establishment of this Speech Laboratory marks a significant advancement in the university’s educational standards, departing from traditional language education methods. Named the “Datu Abdulkarim Mama Ambolodto Digital Language Laboratory,” it symbolizes MSU-Maguindanao’s commitment to modernizing education.

Present during the ceremony were Asst. District Engr. Anwar A. Mokamad, MPW of Maguindanao Del Norte, the four Vice Chancellors, the Deans, Physical Plant Office Personnel, some faculty members, and staff.
