Orientation on HIV/AIDS and Other Transmissible Diseases for SHS Students

MSU-Maguindanao led by Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona, in collaboration with the Office of MP Abdulraof A. Macacua of the BTA-BARMM under the leadership of Chief Minister Macacua, conducted an Orientation on HIV/AIDS and Other Transmissible Diseases for Senior High School students on August 20, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room, MSU-Maguindanao.

Chancellor Limbona has always been supportive of efforts to strengthen awareness on public health issues and promote student well-being. She always said that the university has a moral and social responsibility to guide the youth not only in academics but also in building a healthy lifestyle.

The orientation aimed to strengthen awareness among students on pressing public health issues, focusing on the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and other transmissible diseases. Guided by the shared commitment to student and community health, the program sought to provide essential knowledge that empowers the youth to make informed and responsible decisions about their well-being.

Mr. Mon Arvin C. Tungao, RN, HIV Provincial Program Coordinator from IPHO-Maguindanao, delivered a lecture on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. further encouraged the participants to become advocates of health in their families and communities, highlighting that protecting one’s health is an act of leadership, discipline, and self-respect.

Dr. Joel C. Arenas, Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Joel C. Arenas, Dean of the College of Education, emphasized the role of education in shaping responsible and health-conscious individuals, noting that programs like this orientation complement classroom learning by preparing students for real-life challenges.

The program ended with a closing message from Mr. Sameer B. Macacua, Political Affairs Officer IV, who reminded the students of their vital role in safeguarding their health and that of their peers.

Present during the activity were Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Madame Angelita T. Datucan, personnel from the MSU Infirmary, SHS faculty, staff, and students.
