MSUMag joins OURmindaNOW Summit 2023
#MSUMag | The Equal Access International (EAI) in collaboration with UNDP Philippines, co-supported by the European Union, The Asia Foundation’s USAID-funded FORWARD Bangsamoro Project, and the Al Qalam Institute of the Ateneo de Davao University, extended an invitation to MSU-Maguindanao to participate as one of the representatives of the academe through former IPDM Director Prof. Grant Warren D. Lu and Mr. Alvin Lois E. Pembarat that took place on April 26, 2023 at Apo View Hotel, Davao City. The invitation was extended to discuss potential collaborations with OURmindaNOW fellows, regarding diverse projects related to peacebuilding and Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) in Mindanao.
During the event, Prof. Lu acted as a panel discussant on Participatory Media and Technology for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism where he accentuated the challenges encountered by the academic community in Maguindanao when using media and technology as a platform for sharing and dialogue. He highlighted issues such as power interruption, internet connectivity, inter-generational gaps, and the validation of unbiased narratives.
Prof. Lu and Mr. Pembarat showed appreciation to Chancellor Limbona for entrusting them to represent the university at the event.
Present during the summit were different educators all-over Mindanao, representatives from the youth and women sectors, and NGOs, some of whom were MSU-Maguindanao alumni.
