MSUMag Hosts 2nd System-Wide Curriculum Committee Meeting on Revisions and New Programs

The MSU System Curriculum Committee, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Alma E. Berowa, together with academic representatives from various MSU campuses, gathered at the Institute of Management, MSU-Maguindanao, on May 6–7, 2025, for the 2nd Meeting on Curriculum Revisions and New Programs. This meeting aims to review, update, and align academic programs with current accreditation requirements, industry trends, and global standards.

Chancellor Bai Hejira M. Limbona conveyed that the ongoing curriculum revisions are crucial, particularly as all institutions undergo accreditation where curriculum alignment serves as a key evaluation criterion. She expressed her appreciation to Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Berowa and the Curriculum Committee members for their support of the initiative. Chancellor Limbona noted the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of MSU’s academic programs—not only at the local level but on a global scale. “We aim to revise our curricula in line with current needs and global trends. We must align with the goals of 2030, particularly in ensuring the employability of our students,” she said.

VPAA Berowa provided an overview of the curriculum revision initiative, highlighting its significance in promoting quality assurance and enhancing global competitiveness. She emphasized the need to modernize the curriculum by updating course content, adopting relevant and postmodern pedagogies, and transforming MSU campuses into smart campuses. “Tatak MSU should always be evident—in our programs, our teaching, and our research. All these must be considered,” she said, underscoring the importance of institutional identity and excellence. She also stressed that MSU must not be left behind. Graduates must be globally competitive and locally responsive, and faculty members must remain engaged and connected.

Present during the meeting were members of the Curriculum Committee from various MSU campuses, including Dr. Mahid M. Manguntarum, Prof. Hasmin M. Abdulhalim, Dr. Minerva-Saminah M. Naga, Dr. Mara C. Andam, Dr. Nida A. Ilupa, Dr. Glen A. Lorenzo, Dr. Hendely Adlawan, Dr. Jocelyn P. Vilela, Dr. Niel M. Martin, Dr. Amelia T. Buan, Dr. Renato V. Chrisostomo, and Dean Jul-Asri A. Hadjirun.
