MSU officials attend committee hearing of the TWG of CHTE on the Revised MSU System Charter
#OneMSU | MSU representatives together with Chancellor Dr. Bai Hejira M. Limbona attended the Committee Hearing of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE) on House Bill No. 969, also known as, “An Act Strengthening the Mindanao State University System and Appropriating Funds Therefor” on March 8, 2023, at the Makalintal Hall, House of Representatives, Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
The CHTE is chaired by Congressman Mark O. Go of the Lone District of Baguio City. The TWG creation was proposed by Congressman Zia Alonto Adiong of the 1st District of Lanao Del Sur during the committee hearing of CHTE last August 23, 2022. The purpose is to review the draft bill and propose possible amendments to its current draft.
The bill was authored by Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez of the 2nd District of Cagayan de Oro City. The same Bill was filed during the 18th Congress and was approved by the House of Representatives on third reading on February 2, 2022 and was received by the Senate on February 3, 2022. The bill then was referred to the Senate Committees on HTVE, Ways and Means, and Finance on May 23, 2022.
In the 19th Congress, Rep. Rodriguez filed the same Bill on July 1, 2022 and is determined to address the weakness of the charter of the MSU and proposes amendments that would strengthen the University and make it adaptable to today’s highly globalized world.
The MSU System President was represented by Regent Chancellor Atty. Alizedney M. Ditucalan of MSU IIT. Also present were BOR Secretary Atty. Abantas, Regent Chancellor Atty. Aragasi of MSU Gensan, Alumni Regent Dr. Boniao, Regent Ali, Chancellor Dr. Roa of MSU at Naawan, Chancellor Dr. Abdulrahman of MSU Sulu, Superintendent Dr. Tawantawan of LNAC, former Regent Lim, some MSU officials, and representatives of CHED-OIQAG, DBM, and other members of the TWG.
