MSU-Maguindanao Wraps Up RED Week with Recognition of Distinguished RED and Publication Awards
Mindanao State University-Maguindanao under the leadership of Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona successfully conducted the RED Week 2024 Culmination Program on December 18, 2024, at the DOS Gymnasium. It was organized through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, led by Dr. Raquel D. Santiago-Arenas, and highlighted research efforts, professional development, and the recognition of outstanding academic contributions. A total of 𝟯𝟳 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 were awarded this year to researchers published in notable platforms, including 𝟭𝟱 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘂𝘀-𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝟭 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟭 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀.
Chancellor Limbona recognized the efforts that led to the success of the university’s Research and Extension in 2024, VCRE Dr. Raquel, for leading these initiatives. “We acknowledge the hard work of our researchers, and we hope to produce even more in the coming years. We also aim to craft or improve research policies that could further strengthen the output and work you have put in,” she stated.
The RED week kicked off with the In-House Review held on November 26-27, 2024, where a total of 44 research papers were presented. The review was divided into two categories: 18 papers under Technical Sciences and 26 under Social Sciences. These presentations not only provided insights into the latest research at MSU-Maguindanao but also the interdisciplinary approach of the university’s academic community. In addition, 15 posters were presented, showcasing the various internally- and externally-funded projects of the university.
In alignment with its mission to develop human capital, the OVCRE hosted training workshops aimed at enhancing the capabilities of faculty and staff. On December 2, 2024, a Training-Workshop on Establishing a Research Journal was held, focusing on the process of establishing and managing a research journal. Thirty-four faculty researchers attended, gaining valuable insights into journal publication. The following day, December 3, 2024, MSU-Maguindanao organized a Training on Introduction to Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), designed to introduce faculty and staff to modern tools in data science and AI. Forty-four participants explored how these technologies can enhance research and extension projects, making them more relevant in today’s data-driven world.
