MSU-Maguindanao, Partners Sign for Women, Peace, and Security Diploma

In celebration of National Women’s Month with the theme “Lipunang Patas para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!”, MSU-Maguindanao forged a tripartite partnership with the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy (PCID) and Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) for the proposed Diploma on Women, Peace, and Security on March 27, 2024, at Grand Pagana Hall, Cotabato City.

The event, part of the BWC’s Women’s Month culmination program, was hosted by Chairperson MP Bainon Karon. She expressed her 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 for empowering Bangsamoro women within the Bangsamoro government and commended MSU-Maguindanao for contributing to the Regional Plan of Action on Women, Peace, and Security. She pledged full support for the academic program’s realization.

Ms. Amina Rasul-Bernardo, President of the PCID and a Regent of MSU System, noted that this 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 began three years ago, a commitment of Chancellor Limbona to Regent Rasul-Bernardo and the PCID. She highlighted the historic significance of the initiative in Southeast Asia and its positive reception at the Conference on the Status of Women in Washington D.C., adding to its support system.

Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona reiterated her commitment to 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 for PCID programs in BARMM through the university and emphasized the potential of women in development. She expressed gratitude to the TWG of diploma program for 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹, and the UNDP – Philippines for funding activities to enrich the program’s curriculum.

The signing was witnessed by Executive Director Faujiah Abdullah of the BWC, Atty. Salma Pir T. Rasul of the PCID, and Asst. Prof. Grant Warren D. Lu of MSU-Maguindanao.

The Diploma program on Women, Peace, and Security had its inception meeting in December 2021 and is set to be offered in August 2024 pending approval from the Campus University Council, System University Council, and the Board of Regents during the 2nd Quarter MSU-BOR Meeting.
