Mindanao State University-Maguindanao reached a historic milestone as it held its 47th Pre-Commencement Exercises on July 10, 2025, at the Datu Odin Sinsuat Gymnasium in Dalican, Maguindanao del Norte. Anchored on the theme “Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind,” the ceremony honored the academic journey of the largest graduating batch in the university’s history, with a total of 901 graduates, including 104 Latin honor awardees.
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Marissa N. Parcon, warmly welcomed guests, students, faculty, and families to the event. “This day is not only a recognition of academic excellence but a celebration of courage, growth, and the enduring spirit of every graduate,” she said.
Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona introduced the Guest Speaker, Ms. Rasida Nie Wanin, LPT, a proud Maguindanaon and alumna of MSU-Maguindanao who placed Top 9 in the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.
In her inspiring speech, Ms. Wanin recalled her humble beginnings, academic struggles, and financial hardships, candidly sharing that she often cried not over grades but over the lack of resources. Despite these difficulties, she held on to her inner compass, her faith, and the unwavering support of her family.
She emphasized the power of mindset and the importance of embracing pressure. “Pressure can either break you or build you. It all depends on how you handle it,” she said. She reminded graduates that every success story is built on unseen sacrifices and silent battles—and that every MSU-Maguindanao graduate, with or without honors, has a story worth celebrating.
As a proud Bangsamoro and the first professional in her family, Ms. Wanin used her platform to challenge stereotypes and affirm that excellence knows no region or religion. She described her achievement not just as personal triumph but as a mission—to uplift others, inspire the Bangsamoro community, and contribute to nation-building. She concluded with a resonant message: “In a world full of noise, those who move with quiet purpose leave the deepest impact.”
In recognition of her achievements, Ms. Wanin received a Plaque of Recognition as Guest Speaker and Top 9 board passer. She was also awarded a ₱50,000 cash incentive by Chancellor Limbona for bringing pride to the university and the Bangsamoro region.
The conferment of eligibility to the 104 Latin honor awardees was led by CSC-BARMM Director II Arnold V. Juloya, followed by the presentation and acceptance of candidates for graduation and the recognition of academic and special awardees by the college deans and university officials.
A heartfelt tribute was also offered to parents and guardians whose love and sacrifices carried the graduates through their academic journey. The atmosphere turned emotional as many were seen in tears, embracing their loved ones with pride and joy.
In her closing message, Dr. Arceli B. Naraga shared three powerful reflections. First, she expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. Second, she reminded graduates to carry their honors with humility—not as badges of superiority, but as emblems of character, discipline, and service. Third, she posed a striking question: “Eh ano ngayon kung cum laude ka? Para kanino ‘yan? Para saan ang tagumpay?”—and answered it with a call for purpose-driven success: for the alma mater, for the Bangsamoro, for the nation, and for humanity.
This year’s Pre-Commencement Exercises served not only as a celebration of academic achievement but as a reaffirmation of MSU-Maguindanao’s mission—to produce graduates who are rooted in identity, committed to service, and ready to shape a shared future for all.
