MSU-Maguindanao and PPSA Forge Academic Partnership through MOU Signing

MSU-Maguindanao, led by Chancellor Bai Hejira M. Limbona, forged a partnership with the Philippine Political Science Association (PPSA) on November 14, 2025, during the 1st PPSA President’s Lecture Forum—an inaugural installment of the PPSA Mindanao Caravan. The Caravan aims to strengthen academic cooperation, enrich discussions on political issues, and support the Political Science community in Mindanao and beyond. Notably, MSU-Maguindanao is the first institution in the Philippines to host this forum.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MSU-Maguindanao and PPSA seeks to enhance political science education, research, and joint initiatives. It outlines programs addressing social issues, publication of high-quality research in internationally recognized journals, capacity-building for emerging researchers, and co-organization of conferences and forums. It also promotes the exchange of expertise and resources, sharing of relevant information, and coordinated efforts to improve training and educational standards. The MOU is valid for five (5)years, providing a formal framework for continued partnership and future activities.

The forum was made even more meaningful with the presence of three PPSA Presidents: Dr. Reynold D. Agnes, the current PPSA President from the FEU Department of Political Science; Dr. Dennis C. Coronacion, former PPSA President from the UST Department of Political Science; and Dr. Jan Robert R. Go, former PPSA President from the UP Diliman Department of Political Science.

Attendees included faculty members and students from the Ateneo de Davao University Political Science Department, Grade 12 students from MSU-Maguindanao Integrated Laboratory Science High School, Talayan National High School, and Guindulungan National High School, as well as AB Political Science students and faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

The PPSA publishes the Philippine Political Science Journal (PPSJ), a Scopus-indexed journal, further demonstrating its capability to strengthen the research ecosystem and support the discipline of Political Science.
