Mindanao State University–Maguindanao led by Chancellor Bai Hejira Limbona participated in the 7th Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS) Congress, held on November 6–7, 2025, at the UP Open University (UPOU) Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna. Themed “Empower, Sustain, and Democratize: Asian Women’s Journey at the Intersection of Change,” the congress gathered scholars, advocates, policymakers, and development practitioners to advance feminist dialogue and collaborative action across Asia.
Building on this collaborative platform, MSU‑Maguindanao presented three research papers, including Assoc. Prof. Princess Sheryn Mamucao’s study, “Bangsamoro Women’s Roles in Conflict Resolution in the Bangsamoro Region,” which was recognized as a finalist in the research presentation. This accomplishment highlights the university’s growing influence in scholarly discussions on gender and women’s issues.
The Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS) serves as a vital platform to examine the real-world landscape of women through interdisciplinary dialogue and intersectional analysis. It enables participants to explore how women are shaping and being shaped by broader socio-political shifts, highlighting both shared and diverse experiences across ASEAN member states. The association emphasizes inclusive strategies that foster sustainability, equity, and democratic participation. Building upon its legacy, the 7th AAWS Congress 2025 aimed to empower individuals to co-create knowledge and action for transformative change, envisioning a future where Asian women not only navigate change but also lead it—with vision, strength, and unity.
Representing MSU‑Maguindanao were Arceli B. Naraga, Grant Warren D. Lu, Bai Aljannah Macalandong, Princess Sheryn Mamucao, and Janine M. Unas. Their involvement demonstrates the university’s active role in promoting gender studies, advancing inclusive education, and nurturing women’s leadership in the Bangsamoro region and beyond.
