BFP-DOS and OCD-BARMM Lead Earthquake Drill at MSU-Maguindanao
Mindanao State University–Maguindanao conducted an Earthquake Preparedness and Response Drill on September 29, 2025, at the university field, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Datu Odin Sinsuat (BFP-DOS) and the Office of Civil Defense – BARMM (OCD-BARMM). This activity was carried out in line with the NDRRMC Memorandum No. 027, s.2025, which enjoins all offices and institutions to participate in the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).
Chancellor Dr. Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona underscores that the safety of MSU-Maguindanao’s employees and students always comes first. The recent earthquake drill reinforced awareness, discipline, and resilience in seismic emergencies, in line with the government’s call for nationwide readiness.
Before the simulation, participants were given an orientation on proper evacuation procedures and safety protocols to ensure orderly conduct during the drill.
The drill enhanced campus preparedness and tested evacuation procedures. The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) led by Engr. Samier Sula, together with faculty, staff, and students from the Integrated Laboratory Science High School (ILSHS), College of Public Affairs and Governance (CPAG), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the Infirmary Hospital, and the Security and Investigation Office, took part in the drill.
BFP-DOS personnel who facilitated the activity were FO3 Nikko Prisco T. Alava Jr., FO3 Zahara A. Bandit, FO2 Amirah K. Alabat, FO2 Anwarruddin Candao, FO1 Khaissher Maulana, FO1 Van Erick Balucas, and FO1 Baichenarizah S. Abdul, with the Office of Civil Defense – BARMM (OCD-BARMM) represented by Mr. Maverick Juvel A. Pedrosa.
