Opening New Doors: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Infrastructure and Smart Campus Building
#MSUMag | On February 17, 2023, a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of Infrastructure and Smart Campus Building in MSU-Maguindanao was graced by Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona, PhD and the representatives of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Engr. Alla-von M. Balabagan, the Information Technology Officer, Mr. Bani Sadar Brahim, Tech4ED Coordinator, Ms. Fatima Macarimbang, Project Development Officer II, and Engr. Sittie Meriam Kadil, Engineer I headed by Regional Director Alimbzar P. Asum, MPA, JD, CESO V at CAS Building, MSU-Maguindanao.
The Infrastructure and Smart Campus Building aims to ensure effective computer technology education and access to a reliable internet connection, which can improve the quality of education by opening doorways to a wealth of educational resources thereby, increasing opportunities for learning inside and beyond the classroom.
Chancellor Limbona conveyed that the CHED-funded facility is a 2.9 infrastructure project under the 10.7 million Smart Campus Development Program. The remaining funds is allocated for equipment, software, and other IT-related items. This building will be utilized by the IT Department of the College of Arts and Sciences, Agricultural Engineering of the College of Agriculture, and the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies students. The College of Arts and Sciences, led by Dean Badrudin Abdul, will be responsible for its administration. Furthermore, Chancellor Limbona said that this would be a great avenue for the students to advance the quality of education by enabling new ways of teaching and learning, better access to a broader range of information and resources, and by providing new skills for the digital age and she highlighted that the students will enjoy the opportunities the University has to offer.
Engr. Alla-von M. Balabagan, in turn, lauded the university’s efforts in promoting a smart and sustainable learning environment. He emphasized that the DICT is committed to supporting initiatives that promote digital transformation in the education sector and offered to provide training and interventions to the university. He also acknowledged the university’s strong leadership and plans for the future and expressed confidence in the successful implementation and utilization of the project.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the beginning of a new era for MSU-Maguindanao, as the Smart Campus Building will serve as a hub for innovation and excellence in education.
Dr. Badrudin K. Abdul, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, concluded the event.
In attendance were the Deans, College of Arts and Sciences faculty members, and staff.
