Unveiling beauty through Hijab
Mindanao State University-Maguindanao joins the observance of World Hijab Day per Memorandum Order No. 12, enjoining all women constituents of Mindanao State University-Maguindanao to wear a hijab.
This seeks to foster religious tolerance and understanding by encouraging women of all background and beliefs to try on the hijab and experience how it feels to wear it for a day.

World Hijab Day is held annually on February 1st to honor Muslim women who wear the hijab. The hijab is a head and chest veil worn by Muslim women. The term ‘hijab’ means ‘partition’ or ‘curtain,’ despite its appearance as a headscarf.
Fact: The first World Hijab Day was announced by Nazma Khan on February 1, 2013. Khan is a New York City-based Muslim woman. When Khan was a child in New York City, she faced a lot of prejudice because she wore her headscarf to school, particularly after the 9/11 attacks. In 2017, New York State declared World Hijab Day, and Theresa May attended an event commemorating the occasion at the House of Commons. In 2021, the Philippines’ House of Representatives designated February 1 as National Hijab Day.
World Hijab Day is currently celebrated in 190 countries across the world.
