Women, Peace and Security in Action: The Institutional and Community Impact of DWPS Graduates

DWPS of MSU-Maguindanao successfully concluded the DWPS Dialogues Year 1. Guided by the theme “Women, Peace and Security in Action: The Institutional and Community Impact of DWPS Graduates,” the forum held at the MSU-Maguindanao Institute of Management served as a bridge between classroom innovation and institutional application.

The two-day event showcased our graduates’ diverse expertise through four thematic breakout sessions: Governance and Policy Systems, Justice and Protection, Mediation and Leadership, and Economic and Digital Pathways. A historic highlight was the launching of “Salindaw nu Kalilintad” (Rays of Peace), a compilation of lectures from invited experts, ensuring that the wisdom shared with the first cohort continues to illuminate the path for future peacebuilders.

Emphasizing the importance of this milestone, Chancellor Bai Hejira Limbona shared that the event serves as a vital assessment of the university’s academic mission. She implied that the program’s true impact lies in expert leadership.

Beyond the technical presentations, the dialogues offered profound realizations into the evolving landscape of peace and security in the region. There is a growing recognition of the “DWPS Effect,” where specialized education is visibly strengthening the capacity of GAD coordinators and peace practitioners to design impactful, gender-responsive programs. This influence is already reaching the halls of the Bangsamoro Parliament, where alumni are actively integrating WPS principles into proposed regional laws, moving several policy proposals from theoretical designs into their second phase of institutional implementation.

At its core, the DWPS Dialogues remind us that the Women, Peace and Security framework is a shared journey that depends on collective effort. This forum marks a real shift from classroom discussion to actionable leadership, proving that when research is rooted in local realities, it becomes a powerful tool for a more inclusive Bangsamoro. We move forward committed to nurturing these “Rays of Peace,” ensuring these ideas continue to light the way for a resilient Mindanao.
