MSU–Maguindanao Honors Excellence in Research at the 2025 REAP Awards

Mindanao State University–Maguindanao formally recognized scholarly achievements of its faculty and researchers during the 2025 Research Excellence and Academic Publication (REAP) Awards, held on January 15, 2026, at the Datu Odin Sinsuat Gymnasium. The awarding ceremony, conducted alongside the Loyalty Awards, highlighted the University’s sustained efforts to strengthen research productivity and academic publication through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension.

The REAP and Loyalty Awards underscore the University’s commitment to cultivating a research-driven academic environment anchored on discipline, collaboration, and long-term impact. Under the leadership of Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona, MSU–Maguindanao has recorded significant growth in its research ecosystem during her first term. In 2024, a total of 37 research papers were awarded, while in 2025, 57 research papers authored by 77 faculty members were recognized, along with 13 registered copyrights.

The University also marked a notable milestone in international research visibility. Scopus-indexed publications increased from 20 in 2024 to 35 in 2025, with 28 papers already indexed as of January 6, 2026. These figures reflect a 75% increase in accepted research outputs and a 40% growth in indexed records, underscoring the collective efforts and shared ownership of research advancement within the MSU–Maguindanao academic community.

Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Dr. Raquel Santiago-Arenas emphasized that these accomplishments were made possible through strong institutional collaboration and the continued support of the Offices of the Vice Chancellors, VC Marissa, VC Arceli, and VC Angelita, under the leadership of Chancellor Bai Hejira. Despite the rescheduling of the awarding ceremony due to institutional priorities, all publication incentives were released on schedule, affirming the administration’s commitment to fairness and timely recognition.

Through the 2025 REAP Awards, MSU–Maguindanao strengthened its commitment to recognizing excellence in research while advancing its academic mandate and strengthening its contribution to community development.
