MSUMag Welcomes SCSC Delegation to Explore DWPS Program Development

MSU-Maguindanao welcomed a delegation of faculty members from South Cotabato State College (SCSC) in Surallah, South Cotabato, led by Dr. Rose Marie Diamonon, Vice President of SCSC, for a benchlearning visit on January 6, 2025, at the Institute of Management. The delegation’s primary focus was to explore the development and implementation of a Diploma in Women, Peace, and Security (DWPS) program at SCSC.

Chancellor Limbona is committed to supporting the development of programs that address pressing social issues like women, peace and security. She expressed hope that the partnership with SCSC would serve as a model for other academic institutions in the region.

As we may recall, DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, in her interview promoting the ICWPS 2024, encouraged other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to offer the DWPS program and to expand the diploma course as it gains momentum.

The visit provided invaluable insights into MSU-Maguindanao’s existing DWPS program and other WPS-related initiatives and best practices. The SCSC delegation expressed particular interest in MSU-Maguindanao’s approach to community engagement and collaboration with local, national, and international organizations in developing the DWPS program. This aspect was seen as crucial for SCSC’s envisioned program, as they aim to create a curriculum that is not only academically rigorous but also deeply relevant to the local context and the needs of the community.

Both institutions agreed to explore opportunities for future partnerships, including inviting MSU-Maguindanao’s DWPS faculty members and committee to conduct joint training sessions and lectures for SCSC’s potential DWPS faculty members.
