#MSUMag | The MSU-Maguindanao, represented by its Chancellor, Bai Hejira M. Limbona, Ph.D. and the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Parang, represented by Mayor, Hon. Cahar P. Ibay, inked a Memorandum of Agreement on implementation of the project titled “Adoption of Improved Commercial-Scale Mangrove Crab Hatchery-Nursery System in Parang, Maguindanao”, a project funded by the DOST-PCAARRD, on May 11, 2021 at MSU-Maguindanao Graduate School.
In line with the university’s goal to be a prime mover of Research and Extension Services in the province, it signified its intention to be the center of development of the mangrove crab hatchery-nursery technology in the region.
Chancellor Limbona, on behalf of the MSU-Maguindanao, extended her heartfelt gratitude to DOST-PCAARRD for funding the research. Moreover, she conveyed her commitment to continue collaborating with LGUs in teaching and imparting technology and the know-how as it is the university’s responsibility to help improve the living conditions of the communities it serves.
Vice Chancellor Ramjie Y. Odin, PhD, project leader, further remarked that it is the university’s response in revitalizing the crab industry in Mindanao and to promote sustainable development for the fisheries sector.
Mayor Cahar P. Ibay also expressed its appreciation to MSU-Maguindanao for being chosen as the beneficiary of its project. Also, Mayor Ibay is grateful to Parang Vice Mayor Adnan C. Biruar for donating 2,000 sq.m of land for the Project. Further, they signified their intent to support the university in its endeavors.
Also virtually present via Zoom during the MOA signing were officials of DOST-PCAARRD namely, Director Noel Catibog of the Council’s Technology Transfer and Promotion Division, Eman Noel Cañada – Science Research Specialist, Yolanda Tanyag – Senior Science Research Specialist, Virna Salac – Planning Officer.
Other officials of LGU Parang, May N. Quesada, MPDC, Engr. Abdulrakman U. Ganduan, SB Councilor and VCPD Wahida N. Kusayin and the OVCRED Directors of MSU-Maguindanao were also present.
